April 13, 2009Refresh Louisville
Earlier this year a group of like-minded web professionals came together for the first meeting of Refresh Louisville. To quote the About page: "Refresh is a community of designers and developers working to refresh the creative, technical, and professional culture of Internet professionals in the the Kentuckiana Area. Promoting design, technology, usability, and standards, Refresh Louisville is a part of the Refreshing Cities movement."
We've met once again since then, and the third meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, April 16th at 7pm.The first meeting was a very informal meet and greet. The second meeting centered on the topic of building a website. I was one of the presenters for that night, as well as Thommy Browne who works for PCUSA and Todd Budnikas who works for Mission Data.
I gave a presentation on the general approach I take to building a website. I've made it available online, though it loses a lot of context without the audio; or I suppose I should say without me talking through it since no audio was recorded.
For this month's meeting Aaron Boeving of Clear Function will be presenting on the CMS they created -- Reflect. It should be a good time with some great insight from someone who actually built a CMS.
Hope to see you there! (Unless you live far away.)
